Thirty-two leading Australian and New Zealand fintechs will showcase their businesses to global investors at Sibos in Sydney, the most important financial services conference in the world.
Curated by peak industry body FinTech Australia, the Oceania Lounge at Sibos 2018 aims to unveil some of our most promising local startups on a global stage.
Held in a different city each year, Sibos brings over 8000 delegates from financial service and technology companies around the world together to network and discuss major issues. Over 160 companies drawn from 32 countries exhibit as part of the event.
It will run in Sydney from October 22 to October 25 — making it the third time it has been held in the city in the event’s 40-year history.
“Australia is already regarded as a hub for global fintech. The opportunity to provide some of our local fintechs exposure at Sibos is crucial in showing the sophistication of our fintech ecosystem,” Rebecca Schot-Guppy from FinTech Australia said.
Minister for Trade and Industry Niall Blair said this was an opportunity for Sydney to put its best foot forward as a fintech hub.
“This is a great platform for 32 Australian fintechs including 16 NSW companies to meet investors from around the world,” Mr Blair said.
“Sydney and Australia are natural hosts for this year’s Sibos. We are a leading fintech player and we’re encouraged to see so many fintechs increasingly look to overseas to grow and attract investment.”
NSW’s global meeting bidding specialist, BESydney secured Sibos for Australia.
CEO, Lyn Lewis-Smith said: ”Technology has been described as the largest industry on the planet, and in financial services, Australia has proven capability to produce unique solutions with global application. At BESydney, we see global meetings like Sibos as the ideal platform to showcase that talent to the world and to spark new collaborations. Sibos was a great win for us, and a great win for Australia.”
FinTech Australia’s exhibition will take place over four days, with 16 startups exhibiting over a two day period. If you would like to connect with our local fintechs please meet them in the Oceania Lounge for a coffee.
